On successful completion of this course attendees will be provided with the required documentation to apply to an ACMA accreditited organisation to obtain a cabling licence

Course Overview


This course is designed for individuals looking to start a career within the Telecommunications industry (customer premise or cable network). Attendees will be exposed to a range of modules relating to customer premises telephony cabling including Telecommunications, Security Systems, and Fire Protection.

On completion, learners will be issued with a Statement of Attainment. To become an ACMA accredited cabling registrar, this certificate must be submitted in conjunction with completing 360 hours of supervised practical cabling fieldwork, to obtain an Open Registration licence.

Course Outilne

Overview of Open Registration

 

  • Understanding and adhering to work, health and safety, and environment policy and procedures;
  • Applying electrical skills across a range of telecommunication functions;
  • Detailing the ACMA cabling licence requirements;
  • Understanding the mandatory ACMA technical standards;
  • Understanding the composition of a Telephone Cabling System;
  • Installing all facility cabling and backbone cabling;
  • Recognising the requirement of a Telecommunications Reference conductor;
  • Understanding the correct methods of potential bonding according to the ACMA Technical Standards;
  • Terminating cables;
  • Installing cabling from socket to socket within a customer premises;
  • Test Telephone Cabling Systems prior delivery to the client;
  • Recognising and updating cabling records correctly.

Course Locations:

Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Hobart, Canberra, Cairns, Brisbane, Darwin and Perth


Location and timing will be advised at enrolment

Class Size:  10 - 12 Students

Duration:    6 Days (2 days for pre-requisite units; 4 days for remaining units)

Learners are required to complete a portfolio of evidence to achieve certification of Units of Competency listed below. Included: All materials used for practical exercises, technical manuals for each attendee, test equipment, emulation environment. 1 week phone support.
